As you may know Daimler and BYD (Build Your Dreams) have recently joined forces and created the Denza brand for the Chinese market.
Well the first fruit of their new joint venture is an EV Concept that is being showcased at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show these days, a vehicle which previews an upcoming production model which runs on just electricity.
The Denza EV Concept is a four seat hatch with suicide doors and unique illumination units at the front created for "those who believe that state-of-the-art technologies and beautiful
concepts can blend together into the perfect mobility solution without
compromising on safety and comfort".
Even those the photos provided by Diamler do not show what the Denza EV looks like on the inside, they said that "The rear seating area was designed to feel as much as possible like a
lounge area. The lounge character really comes out through the reclining
rear seats integrated into the design."
The Denza brand has chosen China as its home market due to the massive potential as far as EV sales this country has.
Due to the expanding middle class, increasing urbanization, and a supportive government determined to reduce their
reliance on crude oil, the number of electric cars in
China is expected to rise from its current level of 10,000 to 5,000,000 by 2020.
