At the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Dacia has announced the launch of their first automated manual transmission. Named Easy-R, the new gearbox is now available for order.

According to Dacia the transmission underwent 130,000 hours of bench testing before being evaluated on the road, for a total of 120,000 kilometers. The car uses an electro-mechanical technology instead of a hydraulic one. Renault said this solution offers a swifter response and enhanced flexibility.

As you may have read, the Easy-R transmission will work like a regular automatic gearbox. It has 4 modes: D (Drive), N (Neutral), R (Reverse) and M (Manual).

The new Easy-R transmission has 5 speed, will be offered on the Logan MCV, Sandero and Sandero Stepway and can be matted only with the TCe 90 petrol unit. The price for the new Easy-R? 600 Euros. As a result, the cheapest Dacia with an automatic transmission is the Sandero Laureate which starts at €12,000.
