Even though the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray hasn’t hit the showroom yet, a few details about a performance version are starting to emerge. The guys from Car and Driver have told us that the Z06 successor will carry the Z07 moniker and it will be based on the seventh generation of the Corvette.

More than that, the upcoming Corvette Z07 will come with carbon ceramic brakes signed by Brembo and with performance tires made by Michelin.

Under the hood of the Corvette Z07 we will probably see a turbocharged or a twin-turbo V8 unit. As a reminder the actual Z06 model comes with a V8 and 7.0 liter that can offer 505 horsepower but the new petrol unit could deliver 600 horsepower.

The engine resources will be managed by a six speed manual transmission. If the project will get the green light, the upcoming Corvette performance model could be seen in early 2015.
