Motortrend has tested two estates designed for families who like to go fast – the Cadillac CTS-V and the Mercedes E63 AMG, in order to find out which of these two is better.
It turns out the Merc is better overall but you might draw your own conclusion especially when taking into account that the CTS-V is almost 30,000 USD cheaper than the E63 AMG Estate which starts at 94,075 USD.
The Cadillac CTS-V uses a 6.2-litre 16-valve supercharged V8 to deliver 556 HP and 746 Nm of torque to the rear wheel via a six-speed manual transmission. It has a 113.4 inches long wheelbase, provides 25.4 cubic feet of cargo space and it tips the scale at 4,353 lbs.
As for the Mercedes E63 AMG Estate, power comes from a twin-turbo 5.5-litre 32-valve V8 rated at 518 HP and 599 Nm of peak torque which spins the wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The German model has a wheelbase measuring 113.2 inches in length, it can accommodate 29.0 cubic feet worth of luggage and its total weight is 4510 lbs.
