According to recent info that appeared on the British media, the Ingolstadt based automaker Audi is considering introducing a four door coupe called the A9 as a competitor for the Porsche Panamera, Mercedes CL and the upcoming 2012 BMW GranCoupe.
This coupe like saloon called the Audi A9 would represent a sportier version of the A8 and will sit at the top of the automaker’s lineup.
According to one of Autocar’s sources, "The project isn’t officially confirmed for production, but work is
progressing on the business case, both at an accountancy and engineering
level."
If the Audi A9 will indeed make it into production, then chances are for a 4.0-litre V8 and possibly a 6.3-litre W12 engine to get fitted under its bonnet.
