The Ingolstadt based four ringed automaker is previewing yet another concept ahead of its official premiere at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt.
This time we are being presented with a few sketches that show a concept through which Audi plans to revive the A2 name.
The car is a pure-electric measuring just 3.80 meters (12.47 ft) in length, 1.69 meters (5.54 ft) in width and 1.49 meters (4.89 ft) in height which is powerful and sporty yet also elegant, with some of its features including a dark glass roof which can become transparent at the push of a button.
The Audi A2 Concept is makes use of new materials like polyurethane and
recycled polyester while at the interior, its seat shells have been made from plastic through a blow molding technique.
The automaker has also chosen the A2 as the platform through which to showcase its new phase in LED technology, called the matrix beam. This new technology creates high-resolution, non-glaring high-beam light through a package of LEDs and microreflectors.
The Audi A2 Concept is also featuring intelligent taillights which adapt their illumination in accordance with visibility conditions, while the rear fog light is produces by laser diodes and projects a red triangle onto the road as a warning.
At this point details regarding its powertrain, or weather or not the A2 Concept will go into production, are limited, but new information will surface once the IAA in Frankfurt will have its grand premiere.
