Audi’s A1 lineup for the UK has just got expanded with two new versions called the Contrast Edition and the Black edition, plus the automaker announced the introduction of a second engine in the diesel range, a 2.0 TDI rated at 143 PS and 320 Nm of torque, which supplements the existing 1.6-litre 105 PS TDI.
The Contrast Edition costs 1,350 GBP over the price of an equivalent A1 Sport and applies to all versions except the one fitted with the 185 PS 1.4 TFSI. The special features in this case are a contrasting colour roof line, 17 inch ‘five-arm’ design, bi-colour rims, a double blade roof spoiler and a number of aerodynamic styling elements.
As for the Black Edition, the list of unique items are based on the top S line variant and are are only available with the 185PS 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine and the newly introduced 143PS 2.0-litre TDI. The Audi A1 Black Edition is priced at 1,100 GBP more than any S line model and it comes with a black single frame grille and number plate holder, dark tinted rear privacy glass, 18 inch wheels with a titanium finish and Xenon Plus headlights with LEDs.
At the interior the Black Edition completes the S line’s list of specifications with full electronic climate control and an 180 watts sound system.
This 2.0-litre TDI that was just announced by Audi is responsible for a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 8.2 seconds, a top speed of 135 mph and efficiency figures of 68.9 mpg with CO2 emissions of 108 g/Km.
