Andy Murray won the final of the 2015 BMW Open Tour in Munich managing to defeat Philipp Kohlschreiber. The British tennis player has received the classic prize and a brand new BMW i8.
According to the BMW Open Tour organizers the final match has been postponed due to persistent rainmaking it the first time in the history of the tournament that it had been left without a winner on the Sunday. On Monday, Andy Murray and Philipp Kohlschreiber got back on the field and play for the prize. The British won by 7:6 (4), 5:7 and 7:6 (4) after a 3:05 hours match.
This is for the first time in Murray’s career where he manages to win on clay and it also marks the first British success on this surface since 1976.
“This title means an awful lot to me. After all, it was my first on clay. I really enjoyed the week here in Munich. It was a magnificent tournament. Philipp was actually the better player in the third set today, but the key points went my way. The weather didn’t bother me. As a Scot, I’m used to the rain", said Andy Murray.
