We do know that the Alfa Romeo line-up will grow with a new SUV. Its name is Tonale and it is scheduled to be unveiled soon. How soon, we don’t know, because the guys from Stellantis Group, Alfa Romeo’s parent company, are planning big modifications in the Italian future.

But we do know that, starting in 2022, the Alfa Romeo Tonale will have a plug-in hybrid version. The news was confirmed in a meeting between Jean-Philippe Imparato, Alfa Romeo’s CEO, and the senior management at the Vico plant in Pomigliano d’Arco, Italy, where the Tonale will be built.

We don’t know what sort of plug-in hybrid will be, just because Alfa Romeo doesn’t have a system like that in its offer. There are some chances to use the same plug-in hybrid set-up we have already seen on the Jeep Compass 4xe, but this is just my opinion.

On the design side, the Alfa Romeo Tonale will stay true to the concept that was unveiled back in 2019 during the Geneva Motor Show.
