The Alfa Romeo Tonale is joining the Carabinieri (Italy’s police force). According to the Italian car manufacturer, the Carabinieri will get 400 hybrid crossovers between July and late 2024.
All cars will wear the special Police livery and will get special lights and sirens.
The Tonale hybrid uses an electrified 1.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 163 horsepower matted to a seven speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The cabin of these units were modified to fit specific equipment like bulletproof vests and firearms. Also, the car comes with a single cell for secure prisoner transport, and partial armor to protect the police officers.
