Volkswagen unveiled the US-spec Jetta GLI in 1984. As a result, for 2024 MY, the boxy sedan will get a special edition.

It is called 2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI 40th Anniversary Edition and will come only in the US.

The car will be limited to 1,984 units (the year of the launch) and will have a starting price of $29,235 (after the $1,150 destination fee). The car will go on sale this summer, which means if you’re a VW fan, this is the car you should get.

The new $29,235 2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI 40th Anniversary Edition will be available in Pure Gray, Pure White or Rising Blue. All units will feature black grille, and mirror caps. Also, the red accents will be available on the grille, sides and air intakes frames.

The special edition runs on 18 inch wheels finished in black. Behind the 10 spoke wheels are red calipers.

Inside the cabin you’ll find cloth seats with asymmetrical debossed sections in the center, and a GLI 40 logo on various elements.

Under the hood there is nothing new. As a result, the sedan will be available with a 2.0 liter petrol unit which can deliver 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual and an electronic differential lock. If you’re not ok with the manual, you can order a seven speed dual clutch, but this will increase the price up to $30,035 after the destination fee.
