A few weeks ago, Toyota has officially unveiled the new Prius but today we have the change to read the technical specifications. According to the Japanese car manufacturer, the fourth generation Prius is based on the TNGA platform and comes with the same hybrid powertrain.
The combustion engine is a 1.8 liter VVT-i that comes with an improved thermal efficiency. Thanks to a dual cooling system and a low-viscosity oil to lower frictions between the components the thermal efficiency has grown by 40%.
The unit can deliver 97 horsepower at 5.200 rpm and 142 Nm peak of torque at 3.600 rpm.
The electric motor comes with 73 horsepower and it is powered by a new nickel-metal (NiMH) battery pack.
