Audi launched its new generation R8 during this year Geneva Motor Show. The second generation of the Ingolstadt supercar was the star of the Swiss show and the German manufacturer used this occasion to announce the UK prices for the 2016 R8.
UK Pricing
Available to order in the UK from May 2015, the entry level R8, with 540 hp V10 engine is priced from £119,500. Those who want more power can opt for the 610 hp V10 Plus version, delivering impressive performance for £137,500. First deliveries of the Ingolstadt supercar are expected in late 2015.
Audi Space Frame
The car is built around Audi Space Frame, which combines aluminium and carbon-fibre reinforced composites (CFRP) for a lower weight. The spearhead of the range, the R8 V10 Plus, has a dry weight of 1.454 kilograms (3,205 pounds). Despite extra equipment and greater rigidity, the new Audi R8 weighs up to 50 kilograms (110 pounds) less than its predecessor.
Performance
The range-topping model accelerates in a mere 3.2 seconds from rest to 62 mph and keeps going to its maximum speed of 205 mph. A seven-speed S-tronic transmission and a newly developed quattro drive system transmit the power to the road.
