Volkswagen has officially revealed today the brand-new 2015 Passat and Passat Variant. The 2015 Volkswagen Passat is 85 kilograms lighter than the previous generation and will hide under the bonnet a lot of diesel and petrol engines.

The entry-level version will feature a 1.4 liter TSI engine which can deliver 125 horsepower. The same engine will also be offered with 150 horsepower. Moving on we have a 1.8 liter TSI engine delivering 180 horsepower, while the 2.0 liter TSI petrol unit will be available with 220 HP and 280 horsepower. On the diesel side, Volkswagen will offer the classic 1.6 TDI unit rated at 120 horsepower and the 2.0 liter TDI in three power versions: 150 HP, 190 HP and 240 HP.

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat is 2 mm shorter than the current version and features a 79 mm long wheelbase. The new generation is also 14 mm lower and 12 mm wider. In addition, the Volkswagen Passat Variant’s trunk’s capacity has been increased by 47 liters to 650 liters, while the sedan can accommodate 586 liters, with 21 liters more than the current model. 

According to the German car manufacturer, the 2015 Volkswagen Passat will be about 20 percent more economical, than the actual model. In addition, customers will be able to choose a 211 horsepower plug-in hybrid version with an approximately 1.000 kilometers combined range and 50 km electric range.

The Euro-spec Volkswagen Passat will feature LED headlights and taillights, a TT-inspired digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. Drivers will have at their little finger lots of safety and assistance systems like: Trailer Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, City Emergency Braking and Park Assist.
