A week ago Mazda has unveiled the all-new MX-5. The fourth generation of the Japanese roadster is featuring a complete new design and embodies ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design, but takes it to another level with its aggressiveness.

But at the international revealing, the Japanese officials hadn’t released the full specifications. Today, our colleagues from Motoring say that the roadster will tip the scale at just 1,020 kilograms (2,250 lbs). This is a good figure and will presumably form the entry-level model judging by the fact that engineers have announced a car which is 100 kilograms (220 lbs) less than the previous version.

More than that, Motoring says the 1.5 liter SKYACTIV-G with four-cylinder engine will develop 128 horsepower. For now there is no word about the torque figure but we expect to see more than 144 Nm.

Mazda is expected to release more information about the 2015 Mazda MX-5 at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, in October, so stay tuned for full details.
