A few days ago, the 2014 Toyota Tundra was introduced to the public at the Chicago Auto Show. Toyota has high expectations from this pickup truck, as it will face fierce competition from established brands like the Ford F-Series, Ram 1500, GMC Sierra, and Chevrolet Silverado. It seems that the 2014 Toyota Tundra has everything to be successful in this highly competitive market segment.
The 2014 Toyota Tundra received more than just a face lift. It has a completely overhauled interior, and since the competition moved towards premium equipment offerings, Toyota has two additional, upscale trim levels: the 1794 Edition and the Platinum Edition.
The 1794 Edition features a Western theme: it comes with a saddle brown leather interior with suede accents, a high-end 12-speaker JBL stereo, Toyota’s Entune infotainment system, an advanced blind-spot detection system, navigation, and a rear cross-traffic alert system. The 2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum edition features an exclusive, double-stitched diamond-plate leather interior, heated and ventilated seats, and chrome accents and badging throughout the cabin.
The front end of the 2014 Tundra has been considerably redesigned. Its front grille is taller, and the hood has more aggressive lines.
There is a modified, three-piece bumper, that is cheaper to replace when damaged. The more aggressive looks of the 2014 Toyota Tundra are further emphasized by its squared off fenders. The rear bumper and the exterior of the bed is also redesigned.
The power trains of 2014 Toyota Tundra remain unchanged. There is a 4-liter V-6 producing 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque; the 4.6-liter V-8 creates 310 horsepower and 327 lb-ft; and the 5.7-liter V-8 cranks out 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft. The smallest V-6 is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V-8s come with a more advanced six-speed automatic gearbox.
The interior of the 2014 Tundra has been thoroughly redesigned. The most visible changes are the more ergonomic center stack and the instrument panel with a small LCD screen. The seats were also redesigned to provide even more comfort.
