A brand new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was declared totaled
after a fire started in the engine compartment. The German flagship sedan was
bought just two weeks ago and according to witnesses it was a S350 Bluetec
version.
The brand-new car belongs to retired couple from North
Rhine-Westphalia. While driving on the Ulrich Stockl road they have noticed
there was something wrong with the vehicle and pulled over.
The engine compartment caught fire and was mostly put out by
employees of a nearby firm as well as by some bystanders. After a few minutes a
fire brigade consisting of 18 people and three vehicles arrived on scene but it
was too late for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. It suffered serious damages
under the hood and a lot of smoke penetrated the cabin.
