It’s official. Audi will launch the second generation of its R8 supercar next year and the production will start in the mid 2014 at the new Bollinger Hofe factory. The German officials didn’t say to much about the upcoming generation of the R8 but they give us more details about the new facility.

The Bollinger Hofe factory will have 23 ha and will have body manufacturing, assembly line and logistics facilities. The logistic area will be eco friendly and it will be solar powered and will collect rain water for reuse.

"The new production facility is a key element for the future viability and competitiveness of the Audi site", said Plant Manager Fred Schulze

"All of our manufacturing expertise for the R8 will then be completely consolidated under one roof. This will enable us to optimize our production process and further expand our small-scale production expertise at the Neckarsulm site", added quattro GmbH Managing Director Franciscus van Meel.
