The 2013 Lincoln MKZ is ready for its world premiere at the 2012 New York Auto Show, and if you need proof then here are the official details, photos and videos that the North American car maker has released last night.
This new mid-size luxury segment contender was previewed in concept form at the Detroit Motor Show, with this production version featuring a few styling tweaks, especially at the rear where we now see a different boot lid.
Created by a dedicated team in Lincoln’s new design studio, the 2013 MKZ features a sweeping profile, one of the world’s widest-opening retractable glass roofs, a "quiet, well-appointed interior" and exclusive technologies such as the Lincoln Drive Control which is a system that intuitively integrates multiple systems in order to assure a refined and engaging drive or the Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) adjustable suspension which allows three different settings : Sport, Normal and Comfort.
Apart from that the 2013 Lincoln MKZ comes with three powertrain options, and these include a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo unit for the standard version, producing 240 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque, a 3.7-litre V6 capable of unleashing 300 HP and 277 lb-ft and a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine part of a hybrid system that also utilizes an electric motor to provide a total of 188 HP.
The 2.0-litre turbo and the 3.7-litre V6 plants are linked to 6-speed automatic transmissions and are available in FWD and AWD configurations, and according to Lincoln, their estimated efficiency figures are 22 mpg /33 mpg (city /highway) and 18 mph / 26 mpg respectively.
The hybrid variant is equipped with a continuously variable CVT transmission, and in this case the fuel consumption figures are still pending.
The 2013 MKZ will go on sale this fall but its pricing is yet to be announced.
