Kia is returning on the US minivan market with the next generation of Rondo, also known as Carens in Europe. The MPV will make its public appearance at this years Paris Motor Show, next week.
“Designed and engineered to meet the needs of modern families”, the new Rondo has been developed from the ground-up and it’s an entirely new car. At least that’s what Kia says.
“The new Carens/Rondo builds on the family-friendly versatility and functionality of its predecessor, and features more athletic and visually dynamic design. This marks a dramatic shift forward for our MPV contender and brings the model in line with Kia’s distinctive current design direction”, said Hyoung-Keun Lee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Kia.
Capable of accommodating up to seven people, the new Rondo/Carens will have a more longer wheelbase than its predecessor, providing a more spacious and practical cabin.
Kia had not made public in what markets new Rondo/Carens will be available, besides that it will probably be on sale in Europe starting next spring. This means that the US market will have to wait a few more months after.
