The wraps have finally came off the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
Sure, we’ve already seen the new Santa Fe in numerous teasers, spy photos and leaked images, but now, thanks to the numerous hi-res photos of the interior and exterior we can truly understand what a big step forward this model really is.
And to make things better, the Korean automaker has actually revealed two variants of the Santa Fe in New York, the regular 7-seater version and the 5-seater model called the Santa Fe Sport.
The 7-seater version measures 192.1 inches (4,905 mm) in length, 66.5 inches in height (1,690 mm) and 74.2 inches (1,885 mm) in width, and rides on a 110.2 inches (2,800 mm) long wheelbase, while the Santa Fe Sport is slightly shorter, measuring 184.6 inches (4,690 mm) in length, 66.1 inches (1,680 mm) in height, 74 inches (1,880 mm) in width, and with a 106.3 inches (2,700 mm) long wheelbase.
There are also a few styling elements that set the two versions apart, and in terms of motorisation the Santa Fe will be offered with a 3.3-litre V6 GDI gasoline unit producing 290 HP while the Santa Fe Sport is going to be launched with two gasoline engine choices : a 2.4-litre GDI rated at 190 HP and 181 lb-ft plus a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine developing 264 HP and 269 lb-ft.
All engines are mated to 6-speed automatic transmissions and Hyundai estimates that the less powerful version Santa Fe Sport will return 23/33/26 mpg (city/highway/combined), while the 264 HP variant will achieve 22/31/25 mpg (city/highway/combined).
The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe will go on sale this summer while the LWB 7-seater version will be launched at the beginning of next year.
