At least that is what happened to Todd Lassa, editor at Motor Trend, who took the 2013 Malibu for a ride, but could not express his conclusions as far as the car’s ride quality and handling, considering this is still an unfinished product we’re talking about.
Motor Trend does however talk about the Malibu’s dimensions and interior, and also about its powertrain options which at lunch will only include the automaker’s eAssist unit, which comprises of a gasoline burning 2.4-litre 4-cylinder Ecotec engine featuring direct-fuel injection, producing 180 horses via a 6-speed automatic gearbox, plus a electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.
Later on in the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu’s life cycle (mid 2012), GM will also start offering a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that is expected to have a higher output.
