Buick’s all-new 2013 Encore has just been revealed, with the luxury small crossover taking the center stage at the automaker’s stand in Detroit these days.
Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing said that "Buick Encore is a great-looking, smart choice for those who want
luxury crossover amenities in a more maneuverable and agile vehicle," "It
represents a luxury alternative for a new audience of Buick customers,
and delivers features and flexibility not typically found in vehicles of
its size today".
The 2013 Buick Encore can accommodate up to 5 people and brags with the fact that it has more interior room and storage space with the rear seats folded or unfolded (533 litres when folded, 1,372 litres when unfolded), than models such as the BMW X1 or the Audi Q3.
The Encore comes with standard features such as 10 airbags, Buick’s voice-activated IntelliLink and a high-resolution, full-color seven-inch LCD display radio while under the bonnet it has an Ecotec 1.4L
turbo four-cylinder unit paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of size the Encore measures 168.5 inches (4278 mm) in length, 69,9 inches (1774 mm) in width and 64.8 inches (1646 mm) in height, has a 100.6 inches (2555 mm) long wheelbase, and in the looks department some of its distinguishing features include the waterfall grille, various chrome accents and surrounds, blue accented projector beam headlamps and the 18 inch 5-spoke design aluminium wheels (standard).
The Encore’s interior features an instrument panel that wraps into the door panels and uses a mix of dark and light tones accentuated through the usage of ice blue ambient lighting and bright trim along with wood grain trim.
The crossover’s premium seats are trimmed in either cloth/leatherette or leather and are also heated at the front.
The engine which we mentioned above comes with an integrated exhaust manifold and produces 140 HP (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm of torque) between 1,850 rpm and 4,900 rpm, but at this point we still don’t know what the relate to in terms of performance and efficiency.
The Buick Encore will become available for purchase at US dealerships from the first quarter on 2013, with pricing details remaining unspecified at this point.
