A second announcement made by BMW during the weekend involved the latest 1 Series, which this time was presented in a 3-door configuration.
This new body variant remains identical in size with the 5-door version, meaning it is 4,324 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, 1,421 mm tall and with a wheelbase measuring 2,690 mm in length, and apart from being offered with the same engines found on the more practical version, the German brand has also introduced two new petrol units that are going to be fitted on the 114i and M135i models.
The 114i is going to produce 101 HP from a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo plant, while the M135i will be capable of delivering 315 HP and 450 Nm of peak torque from a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six.
BMW claims that the M135i is going to accelerate from 0 to 100 Km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds if equipped with a 6-speed manual, or in 4.9 seconds when the shifting is handled via an 8speed automatic, and that its top speed is going to be 250 Km/h (155 mph).
This range topping 135i model is also going to be equipped with the M styling package and sporty features such as an M Performance chassis, a stiffer suspension, sharper steering and more potent brakes.
