British luxury marque Bentley has revealed their new performance flagship, the 2013 Continental GT Speed, ahead of its debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The new Continental GT Speed is the fastest production model built by Bentley so far which extracts power from an upgraded 6.0-litre 48-valve four-cam twin-turbo W12 producing 625 PS (616 bhp/460 kW) at 6000 rpm and 800 Nm of torque via a new close ratio 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The 2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed is capable of reaching a top speed of 205 mph (329 kmph) and can also dismiss the 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 kmph) acceleration in 4.0 seconds.
Some of the signature cues specific to the new GT Speed include the 21 inch wheels wrapped in performance tyres, which complement the vehicles enhanced chassis, the dark-tinted matrix front grille and lower air intakes and the ‘rifled’ finish applied to the exhaust pipes.
The interior of the new Continental GT Speed makes no compromise as far as comfort, as it uses the finest natural materials and features the Mulliner Driving Specification as standard.
Just like the rest of the Continental models the GT Speed comes with a standard permanent all-wheel drive system that employs a central Torsen differential in order to ensure high levels of stability.
Wolfgang Durheimer, Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive said that "For nearly a decade, the Bentley Continental GT has defined high luxury, high performance grand touring and the unique W12 engine has been so successful that Bentley is now the world’s largest producer of 12-cylinder engines. The new GT Speed with its harder-edged, sportier character reaffirms this pinnacle positioning and continues to broaden the worldwide appeal of the Continental coupe."
