Aston Martin has lifted the lid on its newest sports car, the 2013 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster.
This open-top Vantage which will be available as a limited edition model will use the same 6.0-litre engine as the Coupe which means it develops 517 PS at 6,500 rpm and 570 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm.
Power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission and in terms of performance Aston Martin claims that the 0 to 62 mph sprint time will be dispatched in 4.5 seconds while the vehicle’s top speed is 190 mph.
The Roadster shared most of its design with the Coupe, however there were a few different elements, such as the rear boot lid and the lower front air intake. The Roadster has also received a number of unique chassis revisions among which a modified rear damper set-up, front and rear damper valve tuning and a new rear spring design.
There are also numerous carbon fiber elements that were added in order to reflect the vehicle’s sporty characteristics, elements that are matched by the new forged alloy wheel set that comes wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.
Aston Martin’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez said "The addition to our range of this exceptional new Roadster allows the
driver and passenger to experience full ‘sensory overload’ thanks to its
outstanding performance."
"I believe no other car in this class offers the combination of the V12
Vantage Roadster’s prestige, six-speed manual gearbox and the unique
enjoyment that driving a high performance convertible can deliver."
Pricing for the 2013 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster will start at 150,000 GBP in the UK.
