Pricing for the third generation of the classic ‘people’s car’, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle has just been announced by the automaker’s US division.
The two engine options available for the 2012 Beetle across the Atlantic include a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder plant producing 170 HP via a 5-speed manual or on optional 6-speed automatic and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo unit (TSI) mated to an automatic and developing 200 HP an 207 lb-ft of torque.
The manual version 2012 Volkswagen Beetle 2.5L returns 22 mpg city and 31 mpg (22/29 mpg with the automatic), while the 2.0L TSI is able to achieve 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
Among features offered as standard on the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle 2.5L the automaker includes 17 inch alloy wheels, sport seats and an 8-speaker sound system, plus it added Bluetooth/iPod connectivity, ambient lighting, larger brakes, an additional glovebox, 18 inch wheels, fog lights, new gauges and alloys pedals on the 2.0 TSI.
The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Price starts at 18,995 USD for the 2.5L and at 23,395 USD for the 2.0 TSI.
