It seems that as we’ve stepped into the new year, automakers are rushing to introduced revamped versions of their existing models, in order to keep their products competitive and up to date with the latest trends and mechanical innovations.
The latest company to apply a facelift one one of its models is Renault who decided to enhance its Megan range externally by fitting it with LED daytime running lights, various chromed and glossy black elements, re-designed whees and new body colour choices (Majorelle Blue and Pearlescent White).
The mild upgrade program continues at the interior where the facelifted version 2012 Renault Megane received a two-tone treatment from a combination between leather and Alcantara, an updated audio system on the GT and GT-line versions, plus a Visio system which includes automatic high-beam
headlights and a lane departure warning function
The engines available on the new Megane range were not overlooked either, so here is what customers can choose in 2012.
A 1.2-litre TCe 115 Energy plant which comes as a replacement to the previous 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine and which delivers 115 HP and 190 Nm of torque (5 HP and 40 Nm more than before). Thanks to this engine consumption and emission levels will reach 5.3-litres per 100 Km (53.2 mpg / UK rating) and 119 grams of CO2 per Km.
The second engine is the Energy dCi 110 that outputs 110 HP and 260 Nm and which requires 3.8-litres of fuel to cover 100 Km (74.3 mpg / UK rating). The CO2 levels for the Energy dCi 110 are 95 g/Km.
The third and most powerful engine available for the 2012 Renault Megane facelift is the 1.6-liter Energy dCi 130. In this case the output reaches 130 HP and 320 Nm of torque while the efficiency figures indicate that it can return 4.0-litres per 100 Km (70.6 mpg / UK rating) with CO2 emissions of 104 grams per Km.
A small improvement has also been achieved on the engine powering the range topping Megane RS as the car will now be able to generate 15 extra horses and 20 more Nm of torque when driven in sport mode. This means a total of 265 HP and 360 Nm of torque.
