Autoexpress has driven the 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, a model which in its previous generation was described as a car for those who preferred to cruise rather than drive.
With this new 911 Cabriolet however things have changed, because the German automaker has fitted the car with a stiffer and lighter chassis, and have also adopted a new hood design which makes the drop top 911 look as good as the coupe with roof up.
The 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet is more agile yet more stable when taking corners and its central piece its its flat-six engine which develops 345 bhp in entry level format, that allows it to sprint from nought to 60 mh in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 176 mph.
The new 911 Carrera Cabriolet can also retun 33 mpg (combined, UK rating) and emits 198 grams of CO2 per Km, figures which point to how fast yet efficient this new version really is.
This version costs around 8,500 GBP more than the Coupe, starting at almost 80,000 GBP in the UK, and unlike the previous generation, Autoexpress recons the new 911 Cabriolet could even become a traditionalist’s choice.
