According to the latest rumor circulating in the British automotive press, the newly introduced Range Rover Evoque will have a competitor sometime by 2012, and that will be the MINI Canyon.
We’ve seen MINI depart from its compact origins with the Countryman, and if this new report will become reality then the British brand is expected to reveal the 2012 MINI Canyon which will basically be a two-door version Countryman at next year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The concept from which the 2012 MINI Canyon will draw inspiration was introduced back in 2005, which means it will feature a sporty coupe-like roof, and under the bonnet the manufacturer is probably going to go with the 1.6-litre turbo delivering 208 BHP found in the John Cooper Works as well as the 201 BHP 2.0-litre diesel found in the BMW X1.
What is also an easy guess is the automaker offering the ALL4 four-wheel-drive system as standard on the 2012 MINI Canyon.
