The most powerful SLK of all time, the 2012 Mercedes SLK 55 AMG is
now available for ordering in the UK, so here is how much it costs in
case you need to know how much to withdraw from you bank account.
It
starts at 54,950 GBP, and the most important mechanical piece that
you’ll get for that amount is the 5.5-litre naturally-aspirated V8 from
under the bonnet which churns 421 HP at 6,800 rpm and 540 Nm of torque
at 4,500 rpm via a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic
gearbox.
Thanks to this engine, which also features the AMG
Cylinder Management System in order to achieve lower emissions and
consumption figures, the 2012 Mercedes SLK 55 AMG is capable of
rocketing from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds and reaching a maximum speed
of 155 mph (electronically limited).
Its CO2 levels are of 159
grams per Km, while combined fuel efficiency figures reach 33.6 mpg (UK
rating) thanks in part to the vehicle’s ECO stop/start system also.
The new SLK 55 AMG also comes with a performance suspension and braking
system while the above mentioned transmission enables the car to be
driven in three different modes: Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S)
and Manual (M).
Apart from the unique AMG bodywork and the special
interior trim, the 2012 Mercedes SLK 55 AMG also comes with standard
equipment such as 18-inch 5-spoke design alloys, Nappa leather
upholstery, the MB Intelligent Light System, the COMAND Online with
Media Interface and a DAB digital radio. Safety features also offered as
standard include PRE-SAFE, NECK-PRO, ATTENTION ASSIST and HEADLAMP
ASSIST.
Among the options customers will find the AMG Performance
Package which costs 4,105 GBP and includes revised suspension and brakes
and a rear differential lock, plus the AMG Driver’s Package which will
raise the vehicle’s limited top speed and includes attendance at an AMG
Power and Passion driver event for 2,755 GBP.
