We’ve already posted details with the German automaker’s intention of directing its next generation A Class more towards competitors like the Audi A3 or the BMW 1 Series, and now we have new info that says a performance version Mercedes A Class AMG which will enter the hot-hatch segment in 2012 is also under development.
This means the 2012 Mercedes A Class AMG will have to battle rivals like the VW Golf R or the next generation Ford Focus RS.
Some technical details regarding the 2012 Mercedes A Class AMG indicate that the engine from under its bonnet will feature for the first time ever awave-pulse supercharger and should deliver around 270 BHP and 280 lb-ft of torque.
The 2012 Mercedes A Class AMG is expected to hit the market as a 5-door hatch, and with this future model the company will aim at a younger audience primarily composed from European buyers.
