2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible Revealed
And here it is !…the most powerful and fastest open-top GT ever created by Jaguar. We’re talking about the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible, unveiled today in Los Angeles.
This version, just like the hard top one, uses the automaker’s AJ-V8 GENIII petrol engine which produces 550PS (405kW) and 502lb/ft (680Nm) and has CO2 emission levels of ‘only’ 292 g/Km. In this case the engine is good for accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds (0 to 100 Km/h in 4.4 seconds) and reaching a top speed of 186 mph (300 Km/h).
2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible features a lightweight aluminium architecture in order to obtain enough torsional rigidity (Jaguar calls it the stiffest car in its class) and have adapted its suspension, to better compensate for the missing top, but to also improve handling without sacrificing comfort.
Jaguar has also equipped the car with an uprated Adaptive Daynamics system and in order to maximize the open top experience, a Performance Active exhaust system that gives a distinctive note was also added.
In terms of styling the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible features a new front bumper design , with a lower air intake and a carbon splitter and twin side nacelles, new side sills that make the car appear lower, an unique rear wing and a fabric roof that takes just 18 seconds to open or fold.
Highlights at the interior include 16 way adjustable Performance seats trimmed in carbon leather, which are specific to the XKR-S models and a multifunction
three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Pricing for the XKR-S Convertible will start at 103,000 GBP in the UK. Jaguar XKR-S Convertible – Technical Specifications
