The production versions Ford Focus ST Hatchback and Wagon have just been unveiled by the North American company ahead of their official debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
According to Ford the 5-door ST hatch represents a ‘global performance car’ meaning it will be sold all over the world, while the ST wagon will only destined for the European market.
Both models will extract power from a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine which will sen 250 HP and 360 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. In terms of consumption and emissions the ST is around 20 percent more efficient than the previous Euro spec Focus ST, but the actual figures have not been specified yet.
Improvements have also been made on the ST’s suspension and braking system which means the car’s driving dynamics have been taken to the next level.
The Focus ST’s Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) is also enhanced with Ford’s Torque Steer Compensation (TSC) system, with drivers now being able to accelerate at full throttle and still find grip even on uneven surfaces.
In terms of design the 2012 Ford Focus ST Hatchback and Wagon come with Y-shaped 18 inch alloys, and those who choose the new Performance pack will also get a number of aerodynamically enhanced components that include aprons, side sills, a roof spoiler, a diffuser and Recaro sport seats.
