GM has put a price tag on its 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, with the new subcompact model, in both sedan and hatchback form, scheduled to go on sale across the USA this fall.
For the 4-door sedan the 2012 Chevrolet price starts at 14,495 USD while the hatch costs 900 USD more, as its sticker reads 15,395 USD.
Available in three equipment grades (LS, LT and LTZ) the new Sonic comes with 10 airbags and On Star as standard, along with a 135 HP 1.8-litre 4-cylinder plant backed by a 5-speed manual gearbox (optional 6-speed auto also offered) as the source of power for the base versions.
GM is also offering its customers the possibility of equipping the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic with a 1.4L Turbo plant, which for an extra 700 USD will return a best in class 40 mpg and also produce 138 HP.
Other features offered as standard on all 2012 Chevrolet Sonic models include air conditioning, power door locks, keyless entry, ESP, traction control and a height and depth adjustable steering wheel.
Production for the new Sonic will take place at the automaker’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan.
