Audi has refreshed the A5 lineup which contains the Coupe, Cabriolet, Sportback and S5 models. The new range features updated designs, perfected quattro systems, the latest generation infotainment systems and more fuel efficient engines.
The main visual changes are represented by the newly designed headlights and taillights, which now feature homogeneous LED daytime running lights and can get equipped with the optional xenon plus technology. The bumpers are also include a number of additional details while the the single frame grille features glossy black upper corners.
At the interior the facelift versions 2012 Audi A5 fell more elegant and comfortable due to higher quality materials, new steering wheels, displays illuminated in white, new paint covers and bezels on the instrument cluster and center console, revised buttons and various other improvements.
The engines that are available on the 2012 Audi A5 Sportback, Coupe, Cabriolet and on the S5 models come with start stop and energy recuperation as standard and are now around 11 percent more efficient due to forced induction, direct injection and a number of groundbreaking innovations.
The lineup comprises of three petrol and and four diesels, and we start with the 1.8-litre TFSI engine which now packs 170 HP (125 kW) and 320 Nm of torque and consumes 5.7-litres of fuel per 100 Km(41.27 US mpg). CO2 emissions for this entry level engine are 134 grammes per Km which meas 21 percent lower than before.
The 2.0-litre TFSI version remains unchanged at 211 HP (155 kW) and there is also the 3.0 TFSI V6 which is new to the A5 lineup and which develops 272 HP (200 kW).
The diesel range includes a 177 HP (130 kW) 2.0-litre TDI which consumes 4.7-litres per 100 Km (50.05 US mpg) and emits 122 g of CO2 per Km, and three 3.0-litre TDI V6 diesel units out of which one delivers 204 HP (150 kW) and returns 4.9-litres per 100 Km (48 US mpg/129 g of CO2/Km) and the other produces 245 HP (180 kW). The third V6 diesel will join the range at a later time and will be compliant with the Euro 6 standard.
The 2012 Audi A5 Sportback, Coupe, Cabriolet and S5 models have also received improved drivetrains and chassis, newly designed 17 inch wheels as standard and new assistance systems.
Prices for the facelifted 2012 Audi A5 range start at 33,350 Uro for the 1.8 TFSI Sportback while the A5 Coupe 2.0 TFSI costs 200 Euro more than before.
The Audi S5 models which address the Sportback, the Coupe and Cabriolet can now get equipped with the new 245 kW (333 hp) 3.0-litre TFSI which requires 8.1-litres of fuel per 100 Km (29.04 US mpg) while some of the visual cues include new alloys, crystal effect paint finishes, and various body tweaks.
