After showing a sketch with the 2011 Hyundai i40 Sedan through a teaser published a week ago, the Korean automaker is now presenting us the real thing, as the new D segment competitor has premiered today at the Barcelona Auto Show.
Featuring a contemporary design which represents an evolution of the ‘fluidic sculpture’ language, the 2011 Hyundai i40 Sedan will enter the market in the fourth quarter of 2010, with the company planning to sell 60,000 units per year after its launch.
Designed at Hyundai’s R&D Centre in Ruesselsheim, the 2011 i40 Sedan measures 4.74 m in length, 1.82 m in width and 1,47 m in height, has a wheelbase of 2,77 m and will be available with four motorisation options.
These are a 135 PS 1.6-litre petrol (0 to 100 Km/h in 11.6 sec / top speed 195 Km/h) and a 177 PS / 213 Nm 2.0-litre petrol (0 to 100 Km/h in 9.7 / top speed 210 Km/h) plus two diesel, both 1.7-litre in capacity, delivering either 115 PS or 136 PS. Depending on output the diesels will accelerate from 0 to 100 Km/h in 10.6 or 12.9 seconds and will have a top speed of 198 Km/h or 190 Km/h.
Some of the features offered as standard on the 2011 Hyundai i40 Sedan include ABS, ESP, Hill Assist, Brake Assist, VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) and multiple airbags.
Pricing for the new i40 Sedan will get announced as the on sale date approaches.
