The Blue Oval is launching the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 which for the first time will also be available as a convertible with the glass roof option.
The real news though can be found under the bonnet, where the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 has received an all aluminium engine. Thank to this new 5.4-litre V8 unit which is 102 pounds lighter, the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 spits out 550 HP and 510 Nm of torque (10 HP more than the previous version) with improved fuel consumption figures of 23 mpg highway and 15 mpg city.
Also the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 has been fitted with a larger 2.75-inch exhaust system and for those that want better handling, the company is offering the SVT Performance Package available for both the Coupe and Convertible.
Although the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 price has not been revealed, the car will go on sale at the end of Spring.
