Gordon Murray Design has collaborated with Torray Industries Inc in the development of an electric sportscar prototype called the Teeware AR.1.

Internally known as the T.32 and created over the course of 9 months, the car is an open-top two-seater featuring a carbon monocoque and a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery that feeds electricity to a electric motor rated at 47 kW and 180 Nm of torque.

The Toray Teewave AR.1 by Gordon Murray weights just 850 Kg (including the 250 Kg battery), which means it is almost 400 Kg lighter than a Tesla and almost as light as an Lotus Elise. In terms of performance this electric prototype can reach 100 Km/h from a stand still in 11.4 seconds, can hit a top speed of 147 Km/h and is able of covering 186 Km on a single charge.

Gordon Murray said that "It has been a pleasure to work with Toray Industries’ team on this
challenging project. The resultant vehicle weight of just 850Kg
achieved using Toray’s carbon fibre once again proves that performance
through light weight is the most efficient and environmentally friendly
way to achieve power to weight targets."
