The production version 2013 Audi A8 Hybrid was just unveiled by the German automaker, and the car awaits its official presentation at next month’s IAA in Frankfurt.
Scheduled to go on sale in 2012 the A8 Hybrid is 99 percent identical to the Concept seen in Geneva last year, which means power is extracted from a tweaked 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine rated at 211 HP (151 kW) and 350 Nm of torque (258 lb-ft) and a disc shaped electric motor developing 54 HP (40 kW) and 210 Nm (154 lb-ft) of torque.
Thanks to this parallel hybrid system the 2013 Audi A8 Hybrid can deliver a peak output of 245 HP (180 kW) and 480 Nm (345 lb-ft) which in terms of performance translate into 7.7 seconds when accelerating from 0 to 100 Km/h and a top speed of 235 Km/h (146 mph).
CO2 emissions are 148 grams per Km, while efficiency figures indicate that the 2013 Audi A8 Hybrid can cover 100 Km on less than 6.4-litres of fuel (36.75 US mpg).
The German sedan can also cover up to 3 kilometers (1.86 miles) on electric power alone, at speeds of maximum 100 Km/h (62 mph).
The 2013 Audi A8 Hybrid distinguishes itself from the regular model through the turbine rotor-style 18 inch (19 inch optional) alloys, the special body badges, the exclusive Arctic Silver finish and the bespoke instrument panel.
