The 2012 Fiat Punto will premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in about two weeks, and at the beginning of next year, the new generation hatchback will already go on sale.
Visually the 2012 MY Punto remains almost unchanged, as it only brings a series of new exterior colours, body matching bumpers, newly designed 15 inch alloys and new seating upholsteries, but it terms of mechanics, this facelift version marks the introduction of the 85 HP 0.9 TwinAir turbo engine and the evolution of the 85 HP 1.3 Multijet.
The 0.9 TwinAir turbo which delivers 75 horses at 5,500 rpm and 145 Nm at 2,000 rpm is mated with a 6-speed gearbox and is reasonable for eco-friendly CO2 emissions of only 98 grammes per Km. The 2012 Fiat Punto TwinAir can be equipped with the ECO button which re-calibrates the engine control unit and enables the car to be driven in normal mode (full engine performance) or eco model (oriented towards economy).
As for the 2012 Fiat Punto 1.3 16V Multiet the engine delivers 75 HP and 200 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm thanks to the IRS (Injection rate shaping) technology and Intelligent Alternator and Intelligent Flow technologies which apply to the turbocharger and enable CO2 emissions of 90 g/Km.
The Intelligent Alternator recharges the battery during the “engine cut-off” while the Intelligent Flow technology optimizes the cooling circuit and is obtained through an oil pump with variable displacement.
The 2012 Fiat Punto will be available in three trim levels : Pop, Easy and Lounge and a dedicated trim for the TwinAir version.
