A new ‘extreme’ version M3 from BMW who this time unveiled the M3 CRT, a car which received pretty much the same treatment as the M3 GTS, only in this case the base version is the 4-door sedan, and unlike in the GTS, this time customers will get to enjoy ‘fancy’ features like satellite navigation and a premium sound system.
CRT stands for Carbon Racing Technology, and you guessed it, it points at the fact that the 2012 BMW M3 CRT Sedan makes extensive use of carbon fiber on components like the bonnet, roof, seats and even the brake callipers.
Other lightweight parts featured by the 2012 BMW M3 CRT Sedan include the titanium exhaust and the 19 inch black alloys, and as a result the car weights 1,580 Kg which means 50 Kg less than the standard M3 sedan.
The 2012 BMW M3 CRT Sedan has also received a new, adjustable coilover suspension, while power is extracted from the automaker’s 450 HP 4.4-litre V8 which channels all its juice to the rear via a seven-speed M dual clutch transmission.
BMW says the M3 CRT will do nought to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds and will also reach a maximum speed of 290 Km/h.
If these numbers have got you convinced then you need to hurry because the 2012 BMW M3 CRT Sedan will only be produced in a limited run of 67 exemplars worldwide.
